New Generation Myanmar
K-12 Virtual School

New Generation Myanmar is a K-12 virtual school that serves children in Myanmar. With over 1,500 active students, the institution is providing affordable high-quality access to education for students around the country. Many children in Myanmar were forced to stop their education due to the protracted civil-war. New Generation Myanmar gave opportunity to those who had the spirit to keep fighting for their future despite their circumstances.
AI in NGM
Helicon has partnered with New Generation Myanmar to provide technological and academic support using AI. The two institutions have an aligned mission — building youth agency. NGM is able to use AI to enable both students and instructors.
Students
NGM students use AI to learn topics that are unavailable in the standard curriculum. AI here can act as a tutor when human experts are inaccessible. It also supports students who miss class or don't understand the material. Teachers at NGM give the students everything they need, but the extra layer of support has proven invaluable for many students.
Educators
AI has supported educators in ways that allow them to be more creative in their classrooms. By reducing the time and energy needed to create presentations, individualize lesson plans, and research new topics, AI has given educators more freedom to make their classrooms feel more personal and genuine.
Infrastructure
AI has played a major role in building New Generation Myanmar's technical infrastructure. Even without technical expertise, proper AI use gives NGM staff the ability to work with tools like Google Apps Scripts and self-host open source software for their institution. It is giving passionate leaders and staff more capabilities to bring their vision of expanding access to education in Myanmar to life.
